We all want to look our best to this purpose we’re taking a look at the ISA Professional Flat Iron. As with everything, there are pros and cons.
Some of the pros of this flat iron are it’s locking buttons, it has a precise temperature control, and the irons are all ceramic. Some of the cons are that the buttons still beep when they’re locked, so if you tend to hit them a lot you’ll get a lot of beeps, and the body doesn’t have a lock on it. The body not having a lock means that nothing is protecting the plates while the flat iron is cooling down.
Pros
Let’s take a closer look at the pros. The locking buttons keep you from accidentally changing the temperature when you’re in a rush in the morning. I like this feature a lot, I’ve been known to hit buttons on accident especially on rushed mornings and paid the price with frizzy hair where I burned it.
For people who need precise temperature control, this flat iron has it. There isn’t a one to a ten-degree difference. It has a neon backlit panel that tells you exactly what temperature the iron is at. For me this isn’t that big of a deal, my hair is somewhat forgiving in that area. For others who’s hair complains at even a one-degree difference this will be a life saver.
The plates on this flat iron are all ceramic. This is a big deal because it means that the entire plate heats evenly for the life of the product. A product that is only ceramic coated eventually starts wearing leading to the plates not heating evenly in regions. A product that has iron plates just doesn’t heat evenly causing burned hair in areas or places that don’t straighten evenly.
The flat iron comes with a two-year warranty which is pretty nice. If anything goes wrong, you can get it replaced or fixed, which for a hundred dollar device is nice. I’m not one to want to drop more money than I have to because of a defective product making the two-year warranty nice to have.
Cons
This next one can be a pro or con the plates pivot making it useful for people who are ambidextrous. Some people have found that this causes the plates to not grip as tightly as other options do. If your hair needs a solid grip, this may be a con. If you’re someone who feels like they’re turning into a pretzel to get their hair straightened this may be a pro. If you’re someone who’s hair doesn’t need a lot of convincing to straighten then you may not care about this feature at all.
Some of the cons are that the button lock is perfect for not accidentally changing the temperature, but the buttons are in a different place than most other flat irons making them very easy to hit while straightening your hair. Even with the lock on, the button still beep potentially being very annoying. I’m one of those people who can’t stand noise first thing in the morning, so this is a no-go for me. If I can’t get my hair straight without a commentary from the flat iron, the flat iron isn’t coming home.
While the buttons lock the body does not, and there are no safeguards for the plates. For someone who doesn’t have to worry about pets or kids burning themselves, this may not be a problem. For people with pets, children or are accident prone this may be a con. Without the safeguards, while the plates are cooling you could still burn yourself or have a kid or pet knock it off the sink and burn themselves.
The ISA Professional Flat Iron comes out as a draw for me. It has some nice features, and it has some flaws in safety. For this product, I’d have to think about if it’s worth the flaws in safety for the nice features. If you’re someone who doesn’t have a problem with the safety features, I would say go for it. If you need those safety features, this may not be the right product for you.
